Blendtec Classic 575 Blender Review

Tom Dickson, the brains behind Blendtec, developed his Blendtec line of blenders with the intention of providing people with the right tool to maintain their health. These blenders are designed to make solid food, such as fruits and vegetables, and liquids into soft foods and drinks like juices, smoothies and purees. These types of food are easier to consume and digest, as well as popular among people on a liquid diet for one reason or another.

Base Unit & Motor Power

A.  Container

The Blendtec Classic 575 is available in two versions based on its jar. First, the Wild Side Jar features a narrow fifth and a wide base, a design that changes the angle of the vortex when blending. As such, frozen ingredients are more likely to be blended well resulting in smooth and silky drinks.

Second, the FourSide jar is just as its name implies – it has four sides that resemble a square. Its square shape makes it more effective in blending solid and liquid ingredients than round jars. It’s also proven to generate greater friction from the blades and, thus, warm up the ingredients (e.g., soups).

In both versions, the jar itself is made from Tritan copolyester, a durable material that will withstand the impact created by the blades churning and the ingredients slamming against its sides. You can use the blender as many times as you want in a day and yet the container will be good as new. Even after years of use, the container still looks great with a few minor scratches here and there.

B.  Blades

The blades for Blendtec blenders are made from laser-cut stainless steel, a strong and sturdy material that can cut through solid ingredients at high speeds in a matter of seconds. But the blades aren’t razor-sharp, far from it – in fact, these are blunt!

The blunt blades are safer since you’re less likely to cut your finger on them while you’re cleaning the blender. These are also more efficient in processing solid and liquid ingredients than thinner and sharper blades. Their power in cutting, chopping and mincing ingredients lie in their fast speeds, thanks to the blender’s powerful motor.

Control Panel and Speed

The control panel features a blue LCD display on the front and a touch pad with the control buttons at the top. The LCD display has a nifty feature – it display the number of seconds remaining on the blending cycle. The touch pad has buttons for stop/start, as well as for the five speeds and the four pre-programmed blending cycles.

The buttons are responsive to even a gentle touch, too, so it’s easy to let the blender do its work. The 60-second and 90-second cycles have a predictable pattern, too, from the slowest speed building up to medium speed before automatic shutoff. The 5-increment speeds range from the low speed (1) to the high speed (9) with each speed running for 50 seconds.

The pulse function automatically runs at speed 7 while the clean pre-sets runs with mild soap and water for automatic cleaning. Obviously, you can customize the blending time and, thus, the consistency of your food and drinks.

Dimension

Both the Wild Side and the Four Side versions are large enough to blend food and drinks in large batches at a time. But these are also small enough to be placed inside a cabinet for storage purposes. Both blenders are also beautiful to look at so you can place them on a kitchen counter for easy access.

The Four Side blender measures 7x8x8 inches with a 75-ounce volume jar. It’s then suitable for making drinks for 3-4 persons. It’s also lightweight at just 7.28 pounds so you can carry it from kitchen to patio, for example.

The Wild side measures 8x7x15 inches with a 90-ounce volume jar. When filled to its fullest capacity, it can make drinks for 4-6 people. It’s also easy to transfer with its total weight being 7.28 pounds, too.

Functionality and Versatility

The Blendtec Classic 575 is among the most versatile blenders we’ve come across! With its powerful motor and blades, it can transform nearly every solid ingredient into mush – a palatable mush, for that matter.

Smoothie:

You can make every kind of fruit and vegetable smoothie you can think of! Every single ingredient will become well-blended with the other ingredients, from solids like fruits to liquids like simple syrup. You won’t see and feel annoying bits and pieces, such as seeds, fibers and flecks, because the blades just quashes them.

Juices:

Your fruit and vegetable juices will be silkier and smoother than ever before. But remember that the blades will no separate the liquid from the fiber.

Frozen ingredients/desserts:

You can make non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks as well as desserts with it, too. In just 40 seconds or so, you will have your choice in frozen drinks, such as pina colada, daiquiris and margaritas. The blades make easy work of the frozen ingredients and ice cubes.

Thinking of making homemade ice cream made from fresh fruits, nuts and honey? Let the Blendtec Classic 575 do the work for you!

Pureeing:

Baby food and dips are so easy to make with this blender, too. You can put raw and/or cooked fruits and vegetables in it, choose the right speed and time, and watch as these ingredients are transformed into purees. You don’t have to mash with a fork or a potato masher anymore.

Soup/ hot ingredients:

With the blades’ fast speed, the friction also warms up liquid ingredients in as fast as five minutes! You can make soups with it and eat the soups immediately afterwards without heating them on a stove top. Just be sure not to pour hot liquids into the jar.

Chopping/food prep:

Why chop and mince fruits and vegetables when this blender can do it for you in half the time? You will get diced food that you can then add to your dishes in just a few seconds.

Grinding/milling:

You may also use it for grinding and milling legumes, nuts, and beans as well as coffee beans. These foods become powdery after a spin in the blender.

Dough/Batter:

If you don’t have a mixer, you can use it to make your batter for cakes and dough for breads.

Noise Level

The price of a powerful motor comes in the form of the loud noise that Blendtec Classic 575 makes when in operation. This is particularly true when the blender has plenty of solid ingredients and ice cubes in its jar. The sound has been likened to a drill – it’s loud enough to be heard from a few feet away so there’s no mistaking that it’s being used.

But since it makes short work of solid and liquid ingredients, you won’t have to listen to its noise for prolonged periods. You can be finished blending in under 40 seconds, perhaps less depending on the speed.

Ease of Using and Cleaning

A.  Operating

It’s so easy to use the Blendtec Classic 575! Just plug it into an electrical socket, place the jar on top of the motor base and remove its lid. Place the ingredients, which should ideally be chopped into more manageable pieces, into the jar, replace the lid and choose your desired settings. Wait for the blender to turn off automatically, remove the jar from the base and pour its contents into another container.

B. Cleaning

It’s easy-peasy to clean, too. Empty the contents of the jar, pour a mixture of soap and water, and replace it on the base. Press the button for the pre-programmed clean setting and wait for automatic shutdown.

You may also load the jar and lid into the dishwasher or wash them both by hand. You should use a dry cloth for wiping the motor base.

Warranty and Customer Support

The Blendtec Classic 575 comes with an 8-year warranty! Yes, eight years and it is proof that Blendtec has supreme confidence in the durability of the blender and its parts. Most blenders only come with a one-year or a three-year warranty and Blendtec definitely upped the ante.

The blender also comes with a 30-day money back guarantee. If you’re unsatisfied with it, you can return it and get your money back. But we doubt if you will want to return it after experiencing its superior performance.

The customer support is also great. You can call and email and you’re likely to get an answer sooner than expected.

The Blendtec Classic 575 is proof that not everything labelled “classic” lags far behind its modern counterparts! Plus, it’s a beautiful blender that can take a place of honor in your kitchen counter.

Yes, there are few hitches with its design, particularly the loud noise emanating from its motor base, but it’s the price to pay. Besides, it’s a minor inconvenience considering the numerous benefits that it brings.
